I have just started learning web development.
In her excellent book titled Learning Web Design, Jennifer Robbins outlines the basic tools and programs you need to become a Web Developer.
Here I will outline the tools I have chosen to use and why.
Formula: Why this tool is needed, What tool am I using, Why did I Choose it?
Tool for Coding
I decided to go for a free program to begin with, and the choice was between Atom and Brackets. After some quick research, I decided to go for Brackets because it’s faster.
Tool for User Interface and Layout
According to Jennifer Robbins, Sketch is a really popular tool. It’s also only available on Mac. So it’s destiny! (Plus it’s only $10/month for the subscription, which isn’t that much).
Tool for Web Graphic Creation
GIMP is available for free, and it’s also installed on my Mac already.
Tool for File Management and Transfer
I already have this installed on my computer so I may as well just stick to it.
It’s a long Journey Ahead…
So there you have it!
These are the tools I plan to begin with.
Obviously, I will upgrade/change these tools if I go ahead with web development.
But I think these are a good start…
